Wireless Geometric Measurement

Laser Measurement system for all types of geometric measurement.

This system can be used to carry out all the most common geometric measurements: straightness, flatness, squareness, plumb and level. Measurement is quick and precise. Displayed resolution is 0.001 mm [0.05 mils]. The laser transmitter is our well known big seller, the D22 with levelling table, strong magnetic feet, and a range of up to 40 m. The transmitter's laser beam can be compared to an absolutely straight and weightless ruler, that is to say a perfect starting point for precision measurement. The swivelling laser head gives a laser plane parallel to the measured object and can also angle the laser beam 90° to the sweep for squareness measurement.

Easy to use

The display unit has a large and clear 5.7” colour screen. The programs guide you step-by-step through the measuring process, which makes it easy even for inexperienced users. The system can provide full documentation, with direct generation of PDF reports, and database programs for PC. The detector transfers the measurement data to the display unit wirelessly, or by cable if required. The advantages of wireless are especially clear on mechanical constructions and objects where cables can snag or get in the way. The most common method is to fix the laser transmitter to the measurement object using the mounting magnets, or mounting it on a tripod (accessory) to one side. A pin is also provided to secure the laser transmitter to a machine spindle or equivalent, to check straightness and spindle alignment for example. The Easy-Laser® E920 is a complete system in itself, with laser transmitter, detector and display unit. But it is also an excellent starting point for creating a measurement system that suits your specific needs and requirements, because all the measurement programs are included as standard! Add extra laser transmitters, measuring units and brackets as well as other accessories from the wide Easy-Laser® range - now or in the future!

Easy-Laser® E920 Geometric Programs


Values - The Values program can be used e.g. when one wants to measure with dial gauges and to check bearing play. Can be used wIth the standard equipment and completely normal set up on the machine!

Horizontal Machines - The measuring units (S and M) are mounted on each side of the coupling with cable or wireless communication to the display unit. Horizontally coupled machines often consist of a pump and motor, but there can also be other types of machine such as a gearboxes and compressors.

Vertical/Flange-Mounted Machines - Alignment of vertical and flange-mounted machines. Shows centre offset, angular error and shim value at each bolt.

Machine Train - For the alignment of between two and ten machines in line (nine couplings). The entire alignment can be followed live on the screen.

Softfoot Check - Start the alignment work by performing a soft foot check to ensure the machine is resting evenly on all its feet. This is necessary for a reliable alignment. The program shows which foot (feet) should be corrected. After the soft foot check you can go directly to the alignment program with all of the machine’s distances saved.

Cardan/Offset-Mounted Machines - Alignment of cardan/offset mounted machines. (Accessory Cardan fixture, Part No. 12-0615 is required.)

Straightness - For quick and easy straightness measurement with predefined measurement positions. For machine foundations, shafts, bearing journals, machine tools, etc. Can handle up to 150 measuring points with two zero points.

Flatness - Program to measure flatness/twist of (for example) machine foundations, machine tables, etc. Can handle up to 300 measuring points with three zero points.

Spindle Direction - For measuring the direction in which machine spindles in machine tools, drilling machines, etc., point.

Squareness - For measurement of squareness in machines and installations.

Flange Flatness - This program allows you to measure 1 to 5 circles of measurement points, i.e. inner, middle and outer circles, in order to see the taper of the flanges. Each circle can have 3-180 measurement points. The program guides you graphically step-by-step through the entire measurement, which quickens the measurement process.

Flange Parallelism - This program enables you to measure and check the parallelism of the flanges of a tower.

Offset and Angle - Shows centre offset and angular error between two shafts, for example. Also suitable for dynamic measurements.

Belt & Chain (Sheave/Pulley) Alignment - Using the system you can align sheaves and pulleys with digital precision. Adjustment of the machines is displayed in real time on the screen, with readings for angle and axial displacement in both the vertical and horizontal axes, as well as an adjustment value for the front or rear foot pair. The result can be documented as normal. (Requires the E170 BTA accessory.)

Vibration Measurement and Bearing Condition - You can measure vibration levels (mm/s, inch/s) and bearing condition (g-value). The program guides the user through the points to measure on the machine: vertical, horizontal and axial. The result can be documented as normal. (Requires the E285 Vibrometer probe accessory.)

Easy-Laser® E920 Geometric Expandability

Easy-Laser® measurement and alignment systems are already extremely flexible in their standard form. By using clever accessories, you can adapt the systems for your own needs, now and in the future as your measurement requirements change. It is cost-effective. We have standardised measurements between the mounting holes in the different parts, and often there are mounting holes on several sides to facilitate mounting on the machine. Experience tells us that this is very much appreciated. A further advantage is that you can use one of the measuring units separately as a detector with, for example, our geometric laser D22. This expands the areas of application of the measurement system. Easy-Laser® is a system that is complete in its full meaning!

Barcode Reader

The barcode reader is used to enter the machine data before measurement. At the first measurement of the machine apply the adhesive bar code label. Next time the machine is checked the dimensions are read in directly. Connected in the USB port.

Vibration Measurement

E285 Vibrometer Probe

Used for measuring vibration (mm/s, inch/s) and bearing condition (g-value). For systems with program "Vibrometer" in Display unit E418.

Belt & Chain Alignment

E170 BTA

Part No.: 12-0659

With the Easy-Laser® E170 you can read and follow the alignment from where you are standing and make adjustments, instead of only where the detector is mounted. The detector reads off the position in relation to the laser plane and digitally displays the parallel and angular misalignment “live”. This makes alignment of the adjustable machine very easy. The accuracy of the reading means that you can be within the prescribed alignment tolerances and rely upon the result. Suitable for most types of belt drives, such as V-belt, timing belt, flat belt and chain drives.

Notes: There is no separate display unit included or available. The detector connects to the E418 display unit with BTA program, which for example is included in system E710. For connection the red cable of the main system is used. Wireless connection is not available. The E170 detector unit cannot be connected to the D-series display units or other equipment.

Geometric Measurement

D22 Swivel Laser Transmitter

Can be used to measure flatness, straightness, squareness and parallelism. The laser beam can sweep 360° (1) with a measurement distance of up to 40 m [130’] in radius. The laser beam can also be angled 90° to the sweep (2), within 0.01 mm/m [0.5 mils/thou].


D23 Spin Laser Transmitter

With a power rotating head providing a 360° laser plane. Used together with detector D6. For quick and easy measurement of flatness and plane-parallelism. Measurement distance up to 20 metres in radius.

D75 Laser Transmitter

D146 Spindle Laser Transmitter

For measuring spindle direction and straightness. Can be used in a rotating spindle (max. 2000rpm). The mounting pin can be fitted at either end, for  example, when aligning rod cartridges. Measurement distance: 20 metres.

Notes: An extra mounting pin can be fitted at the laser aperture side, making it possible to align, for example, bar feeders.

D46 Angular Prism

Used when measuring squareness and parallelism. A penta-prism that deflects the beam 90° is integrated in an adjustable housing.

Notes: A. With the rotatable angular prism you can reach the detector at any height on a flange, or on a roll at any height. B. The beam is aligned with the detector using the sled.

Bracket for D75
