Simple and Efficient Shaft to Shaft Laser Alignment

The Easy-Laser® E540 is a very powerful shaft alignment system, with the ideal balance between performance and price. Programs that guide you step-by-step with both icons and text makes the system very easy to use for everyone, regardless of prior knowledge. The E540 system includes measurement programs for horizontal machines, vertical machines and alignment of machine trains with three machines. The measuring units are pre-mounted for a quick machine set-up process. Start with the measuring units positioned anywhere on the shaft, take any three readings down to 20° between each one, then adjust the machine with the live-values in both horizontal and vertical directions. A PDF report is generated automatically when the measurements are saved. Simple and efficient!

Technology that gives the best performance in demanding industrial environments

The shaft alignment system has a large 5.7", bright colour display that clearly shows all the steps of the measurement. The measuring units have TruePSD-technology, which gives unlimited resolution. Twin laser beams, twin PSDs and twin inclinometers give you superb control of the measurement in all situations. The measuring units are incredibly compact featuring Bluetooth® Wireless technology, an integrated rechargeable battery and large 30 mm TruePSD detectors. This means that they are easy to install on most types of machines, even where there is limited space. The wireless technology gives you full freedom of movement around the machine that is to be aligned. Display unit, measuring units and brackets are all very robust for the highest accuracy in demanding industrial environments.

 

Large expansion possibilities

It is possible to connect two very useful accessories to the system. With the Vibrometer E285 it is possible to check the vibration level and bearing condition of the machine. Using E170 BTA you can check and align sheaves and pulleys with digital precision. You can document the measurements for vibration checks and belt alignment in the same way as for the normal shaft alignment programs. There is also a wide range of accessory brackets, such as magnet bases, axial magnet brackets and brackets for non-rotating shafts (see the Accessories tab on the right). The transportation case is equipped with compartments for the accessories, which means that you can carry everything in one case. With the Barcode Readr the user can save many key operations where all machine dimensions, tolerances and compensation values are entered in one single operation, and the measurement from then on, can be started directly. At the first measurement, save the downloaded machine data and attach the barcode label to the machine.

Easy-Laser® E540 Programs

Horizontal Machines - The measuring units (S and M) are mounted on each side of the coupling with cable or wireless communication to the display unit. Horizontally coupled machines often consist of a pump and motor, but there can also be other types of machine such as a gearboxes and compressors.
 

Vertical/Flange-Mounted Machines - Alignment of vertical and flange-mounted machines. Shows centre offset, angular error and shim value at each bolt.
 

Machine Train - For alignment of machine trains with three machines. You can pick the reference machine manually, or let the program choose one that will minimize the need for adjustments.
 

Belt & Chain (Sheave/Pulley) Alignment - Using the system you can align sheaves and pulleys with digital precision. Adjustment of the machines is displayed in real time on the screen, with readings for angle and axial displacement in both the vertical and horizontal axes, as well as an adjustment value for the front or rear foot pair. The result can be documented as normal. (Requires the E170 BTA accessory.)
 

Vibration Measurement and Bearing Condition - You can measure vibration levels (mm/s, inch/s) and bearing condition (g-value). The program guides the user through the points to measure on the machine: vertical, horizontal and axial. The result can be documented as normal. (Requires the E285 Vibrometer probe accessory.)
 

Values - The Values program can be used e.g. when one wants to measure with dial gauges and to check bearing play. Can be used wIth the standard equipment and completely normal set up on the machine!
 

Softfoot Check - Start the alignment work by performing a soft foot check to ensure the machine is resting evenly on all its feet. This is necessary for a reliable alignment. The program shows which foot (feet) should be corrected. After the soft foot check you can go directly to the alignment program with all of the machine’s distances saved.
 

EasyTurn™ Function - With the EasyTurn™ function you can start measurement anywhere on the turn. Turn the shafts with the measuring units to three positions in any direction with as little as 20° between to register the measurement value and your measurement is complete!
 

Thermal Growth Compensation - The Thermal Growth Compensation function allows the measurement system to calculate the correct shims and adjustment values when the machines (for example a pump and motor) expand considerably from a cold to a hot state (operating temperature).
 

Tolerance Check - Checks the offset and angle values towards a selected tolerance. Shows graphically when the alignment is within tolerance.
 

Reference Foot Locking - This function allows you to lock any pair of feet on the machine. This gives great freedom when aligning bolt-bound machines.
 

Measurement Value Filter - Advanced electronic filter function for accurate measurement results, even in bad measuring conditions like air turbulence and vibration.
 

Multiple Sets of Feet - The software can adjust to machine designs of all types such as those with two pairs of feet, three pairs of feet, and feet in front of the coupling etc.
 

Live-Any-Angle 360° - Allows adjustment of the machines live with the measuring units positioned anywhere around the shaft. Good for when machine parts prevent normal adjuster positioning.
 

Swap View Function - The swap view function allows you to adjust the position of the motor on screen to correspond with the position of the machine in front of you, making it easier to understand adjustment directions.

Large expansion possibilities

It is possible to connect two very useful accessories to the system. With Vibrometer E285 (below left) it is possible to check the vibration level and bearing condition of the machine. Using E170 BTA (below right) you can check and align sheaves and pulleys with digital precision. You can document the measurements for vibration checks and belt alignment in the same way as for the normal shaft alignment programs. There is also a wide range of accessory brackets, such as magnet bases, axial magnet brackets and brackets for non-rotating shafts. Easy-Laser® E540 Accessories

Easy-Laser® measurement systems are already extremely flexible in their standard form. By using clever accessories, you can adapt the systems for your own needs, now and in the future as your measurement requirements change. It is cost-effective. We have standardised measurements between the mounting holes in the different parts, and often there are mounting holes on several sides to facilitate mounting on the machine. Experience tells us that this is very much appreciated. A further advantage is that you can use one of the measuring units separately as a detector with, for example, our geometric laser D22. This expands the areas of application of the measurement system. Easy-Laser® is a system that is complete in its full meaning!

Vibration Measurement

Belt & Chain Alignment

E170 BTA

With the Easy-Laser® E170 you can read and follow the alignment from where you are standing and make adjustments, instead of only where the detector is mounted. The detector reads off the position in relation to the laser plane and digitally displays the parallel and angular misalignment “live”. This makes alignment of the adjustable machine very easy. The accuracy of the reading means that you can be within the prescribed alignment tolerances and rely upon the result. Suitable for most types of belt drives, such as V-belt, timing belt, flat belt and chain drives.

Notes: There is no separate display unit included or available. The detector connects to the E418 display unit with BTA program, which for example is included in system E710. For connection the red cable of the main system is used. Wireless connection is not available. The E170 detector unit cannot be connected to the D-series display units or other equipment.

D22 Swivel Laser Transmitter

Can be used to measure flatness, straightness, squareness and parallelism. The laser beam can sweep 360° (1) with a measurement distance of up to 40 m [130’] in radius. The laser beam can also be angled 90° to the sweep (2), within 0.01 mm/m [0.5 mils/thou].
